Who Can Speed Skate?
The Kinsmen Moose Jaw Speed Skating Club accepts skaters age 4 and up. Skaters are registered according to their age and will be placed in one of our two skating groups - Novice or A - based on our Coaches assessments (a combination of several factors from age, to skating skills to endurance etc.). Our goal is to ensure skaters have a GREAT experience regardless of the age they begin to speed skate!
We have skaters of all ages and abilities, don't be shy - give speed skating a try!
Proof of Vaccination Requirement
Effective immediately, the Kinsmen Moose Jaw Speed Skating Club has mandated that proof of Full COVID-19 vaccination will be required for all skaters who are eligible for the doses, which currently applies to those 12 years of age or older. The need for this policy is a result of the significant risks mounting from the highly transmissible COVID-19 variant and a necessary step to protect all our members and coaches.
The only acceptable forms of proof of vaccination are:
Note that several upcoming meets for this season will require proof of vaccination including the 2022 Saskatchewan Winter Games. Updates to this policy will be provided if there are changes to the age eligibility of the vaccinations and/or additional restrictions are announced by the Government of Saskatchewan.
Everyone is welcome to be part of our Club... skaters, parents, family and friends. However ONLY current Club Members can register skaters for the regular skating season. Each family wishing to register a skater must sign up for a Club Membership. Club Membership is valid for an entire year from Sept 1 each year. Once a Club Membership account has been created, families can then log into the website to complete the Skater Registration process. Logging in now only allows access to the registration system, it also ties all registrations to your single family Club Member account.
Club Members are also registered with SSC (Speed Skating Canada) and SASSA (Saskatchewan Amateur Speed Skating Association). The $40 annual membership fee is paid SSC & SASSA. Questions about membership and skater registration can be directed to our Registration Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org
What does it Cost?
As a non-profit organization, our Club tries to keep costs as low as possible. Our 2019-20 Speed Skating Season begins October 1 and will conclude on March 29, 2020. Club Membership is $40 for the year (per family - includes 2 adults).
Our full season skating fees are based on the developmental/age based levels used by Speed Skating Canada.
Program costs are available in the 2021-2022 MJSSC Fee Structure. Please review this document carefully to understand all costs associated with registering your skater(s).
